The GO Train will be a no-go this weekend for Durham residents as Metrolinx has ordered a full suspension of Lakeshore East rail service while infrastructure improvements are being done to the Rouge River bridge.

There will be a full suspension of Lakeshore East rail service starting Friday, November 26 to Sunday, November 28 – Union Station to Oshawa GO.

Service interruptions for the 905 crowd will begin at 9:05 pm Friday for eastbound service with the last train from Union Station to make all stops to Oshawa.

Bus replacements will start at 9:30 p.m. and run express from the Union Station Bus Terminal to Pickering GO and then make all stops to Oshawa GO.

For westbound users, the 9:20 p.m. from Oshawa GO to Union Station will be the last train to run all stops to Union Station. Bus replacements will station at 9:50 p.m. and make all stops from Oshawa GO to Pickering GO and then run express to Union Station Bus Terminal.

This weekend, crews will be working to replace timber decking on the bridge. To do so safely crews will require access to the tracks, hence the closing of service. Workers will also be working through the night to complete as much of this work as possible.

The bridgework is expected to extend the life of the Rouge River bridge another 20 years.
