If you need to get into Toronto from Durham Region this weekend it won’t be a GO train that will get you there.

Starting late Friday night and continuing into end of day Sunday all Lakeshore East trains will be cancelled and replaced by buses for track switch replacement work.

All replacement rail bus trips will operate between Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering GO stations, running express from Pickering to Union Station. There will also be no train service at Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough or Danforth stations.

The train cancellations will begin with the 11:10 p.m. and 11:39 p.m. train trips leaving Oshawa and heading east. All subsequent train trips will be replaced by bus service and late night bus services will be adjusted to meet the expected demand.

Metrolinx cautions riders to plan ahead and check schedules before you travel.

Starting late evening Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 6, construction work will take place along the Lakeshore East line. Track switch replacement work will take place between Danforth GO and Union Station and there will also be repair work taking place on the Birchmount Bridge. Additionally, track work will take place along the line for the new East Harbour GO station and Ontario line.
