Oshawa's Matthew Boyko won $1 million in the November 2 Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw

It was a lot of zeros for an Oshawa caretaker to process after learning he had won $1 million in the November 2 LOTTO 6/49 Gold Ball Draw.

Matthew Boyko was at work on his break when he decided to check the winning numbers on his computer.

“When I saw that my selections matched the Gold Ball Draw number, I nearly fell off my chair,” he recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “It took me a few minutes to process all the zeros!”

Getting back to work proved a little difficult for Oshawa’s newest millionaire. “I had to continue working, but I couldn’t focus. Don’t tell my boss, but I didn’t know what I was doing,” he laughed. “All I could think about was my prize.”

Boyko has been exclusively playing LOTTO 6/49 with OLG for more than 30 years. He uses OLG’s Quick Pick feature to make his selections and is now celebrating his first big win, along with the thrill of becoming a millionaire.

“I shared the good news with a few people, and they were very happy for me. After today, I’ll be telling everyone I know,” he said. “Winning feels great! It’s hard to explain the sensation. I feel sick to my stomach, but in the best way possible.”

“I have a gut feeling I’ll be back here again.”

Boyko plans to purchase a house with his windfall.

LOTTO 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday, for the same $3 per play.

The Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the Gold Ball Draw guarantees a $1 million prize, or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can exceed $60 million.

The winning ticket was purchased at Park ’N Shop Mart on Park Road South in Oshawa.
