Gun found in Oshawa traffic stop

Police report officers discovered a gun during an Oshawa traffic stop.
Durham Police officers pulled the car over near Thornton Road North and King Street West, near the Whitby border, shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 5. When speaking to the occupants of the car, the officers saw cannabis within reach, police say.
They then searched the car under the Cannabis Control Act. Inside, police say, the officers found a loaded pistol near the passenger seat. Both occupants are charged:
- Anthony Omar Scott, 44 of Oshawa is charged with:
- occupying a car with a gun,
- possession of a restricted firearm without a licence,
- possession of a gun while prohibited, and
- driving with cannabis readily available
- Jessica Marie Tripp, 32 of Ajax, is charged with
- occupying a car with a gun,
- possession of a restricted firearm without a licence
