Multiple suspects remain at large after a group robbed a man of his cell phone at gunpoint in Ajax.

The victim was walking through a high school field near Harwood Ave. and Rossland Rd. around 10 p.m. on Sept. 16. Three to four men or boys and a girl approached him as he made his way across the field. The group verbally accosted the victim until one of the men approached and pulled a gun.

The victim handed over his cell phone to the gun-wielding man. The group then took off from the scene. However, the robber and the girl later returned to the field and gave the victim his phone back. They were not armed this time. The pair told the victim that they were joking and again left.

The victim and the suspects do not know each other. No one was hurt in the exchange.

Durham Regional Police described the gun-wielding man as a 15 to 20-year-old Middle Eastern man standing 5-foot-8 and weighing about 150 pounds. He had short brown hair and wore a blue surgical mask and a brown hooded sweatshirt.

They describe the girl as white and 10 to 12 years old. She stood 5-foot-5 and had black braided hair.
