An Uxbridge animal sanctuary is inviting their friends and neighbours to trick-or-treat on the farm and celebrate Halloween with pumpkins, hay rides, candy and of course, rescued animals

Farmhouse Garden Animal Home in Uxbridge Township is hosting its annual ‘Halloween at the Farm’ event on Sunday October 30, with pumpkins to carve, candy to eat and animals to feed.

Visitors can purchase tickets at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/halloween-at-the-farm-tickets-422953233507 and spend a spooky day with the cows, chickens and ducks, horse and donkey residing at the sanctuary.

The event will run from 1-3 p.m. and will feature a costume contest, a vegan bake sale, a hay wagon ride around the farm, pre-made veggie boxes to feed the animals, and much more. All proceeds raised during the fundraiser will be used to cover animal care costs, including food, bedding and veterinary services.

“It’s so much fun watching people interacting with large farm animals and marveling at how incredible they are,” said Edith Barabash, Farmhouse Garden’s executive director. “Fundraisers such as this one allows us to continue our rescue work, and also give visitors an experience they won’t forget.”

Farmhouse Garden Animal Home started rescuing animals in 2016 when cattle farmer Mike Lanigan decided that he could no longer send the animals on his farm to slaughter. It has since been a place of refuge and compassion for animals, giving them a chance to live safe, happy lives. Currently, the sanctuary is home to a herd of cows, a flock of chickens and ducks, a horse and a donkey.
