Here's where to see sunflowers in full bloom in Oshawa, Whitby and Durham

Sunflowers are now in bloom across Durham Region, offering visitors a chance to experience the beauty of these cheerful flowers at various farms.

Here are some notable sunflower farms in the area and some tips to help you plan your visit.


Bmore Farms

B’More Farm Market, located at 6800 Country Lane in Whitby, will host a special event on Saturday, July 27, and Sunday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It will feature a stunning 120,000-blooming sunflower maze, face painting, a petting zoo, and wellness activities such as Biofield Tuning using tuning forks.

Additionally, it will include many other vendors selling items like farm-fresh veggies and cured meats.


Bragg Farms

Bragg Farms, located at 3048 Concession Road 3 in Bowmanville, is known for its expansive sunflower fields. The farm offers beautiful trails and numerous photo opportunities, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.

According to Bragg Farms’ website, sunflower fields are expected to open for the season this weekend (July 20th and 21st), which is earlier than anticipated due to the bloom arriving a whole week ahead of schedule.

Once the bloom begins, the sunflower fields will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for approximately three to four weeks, allowing visitors ample time to enjoy the stunning sunflowers.


Maple Grove Orchards 

Maple Grove Orchards, located at 3700 Maple Grove Road in Clarington, Ontario, is known for offering a “cut your own sunflowers” experience in the past. Though open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the farm’s hours vary.

Customers can also find various produce such as apples, strawberries and corn.


Pinedale Patch

Pinedale Patch, located at 1740 Concession 4, Sunderland, Ontario, features a 1-acre walk-through sunflower field with trails, providing a picturesque setting for visitors.

During the sunflower season, the farm is open on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors can also purchase sunflower bouquets to take home.


Pingle’s Farm Market 

Pingle’s Farm Market, located at 1805 Taunton Road East, Hampton, Ontario, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. year-round.

They offer a vibrant flower days event, where visitors can explore fields of sunflowers, wildflowers, and lavender at their own pace. The event includes activities such as yoga classes, pick-your-own flowers, and photo prop stations like a giant swing and vintage tractors.


The Sunflower Farm

The Sunflower Farm is quite unique as it is Canada’s first and only sunflower-shaped trail, providing a unique experience across its two locations in Beaverton and Lindsay, Ontario.

The Beaverton location, at 24430 Side Rd. 17, opens on July 30th, 2024, and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the sunflower season.

The Lindsay location, at 347 Lindsay St. South, opens on August 29th, 2024, with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday to Sunday.

Visitors can explore a 20-acre sunflower field and participate in events and workshops.


Watson Farms

Watson Farms, located at 2287 Highway 2 in Bowmanville, Ontario, operates daily with market hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Visitors can opt for pick-your-own activities, including strawberries and raspberries, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Watsonland, the farm’s playground and petting zoo, is also open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The farm features a scenic walk through a sunflower maze surrounded by hundreds of in-bloom sunflowers. Guests can enjoy the beauty of the fields and take home their own sunflowers.


White Feather Farms Country Store

White Feather Country Store, located at 15 Raglan Road E in Oshawa, Ontario, features a sunflower trail open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The store operates Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a variety of fresh farm products, including chickens and eggs, local seasonal produce, and a selection of baked goods.

Visitors can also browse an extensive collection of giftware and home decor items.
