Update: Highway 401 lanes shut down in Whitby and Oshawa

Lanes on Highway 401 were shut down in Whitby and Oshawa for a police investigation.

All eastbound lanes were closed at Thickson Road to Stevenson Road for the investigation around 6:30 a.m. Friday (Sept. 8), according to Ontario 511.

The eastbound ramp at Thickson was also closed.

Drivers were being forced off the highway.

OPP hadn’t released the cause of the closure nor how long it would be in place.

Update: Police reportedly responded to a report of a break and enter around Wentworth Street and Thickson Road before 6 a.m. Two suspects fled when police arrived.

Police stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 401 near Stevenson Road. There was  a minor collision between the suspect vehicle and a police cruiser, according to reports.

The highway was closed for the police response and reopened around 9:30 a.m.
