Saturday will be an opportunity to go back in time to celebrate with the Newcastle Village & District Historical Society.
The Society will be blowing out the candles turn-of-the-century-before-the-last-one-style at their 40th anniversary 1890s Garden Party.
The event, which will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Newcastle Memorial Park, behind the library off King Street East, will feature 1890s refreshments, childrens’ games, costume contents and music by Orono Band.
Tickets available at Historical Room, Newcastle Community Hall or online at www.newcastlehistorical.ca at 1890s prices (natch) of 25 cents for adults and ten cents for children.
If you’re still feeling nostalgic for the good ol’ days, head from there to the Newcastle Community Town Hall for the Handmade & Local Market featuring Clarington’s own locally owned small businesses.
This event, the third annual, runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features free face painting, raffle prizes, free treats and lots of amazing vendors.
