An Oshawa man is facing impaired and fail to remain charges after a transport truck was sideswiped and forced into a ditch Saturday morning in eastern Ontario.

OPP’s Frontenac Division responded to the truck (and its load) in the ditch just east of Kingston. Witnesses were able to free the driver (after smashing the windshield to free the man) and police tracked down the suspect a few miles to the east where he had stopped his damaged SUV to change a tire.

The truck driver was sent to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV, Abdul Hakimy, 53, is facing charges of operating a vehicle while impaired (alcohol and drugs); operation with a blood alcohol of higher than 80 mg; and fail to remain at the scene of an accident.

Hakimy is scheduled to appear in court in Kingston on February 4.
