Hit-and-run in Whitby leaves elderly woman with serious injuries

A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after a hit-and-run in Whitby.

The woman was crossing the road near Micklefield Avenue and Hayeraft Street around 3 p.m. on Nov. 29 when a dark Jeep SUV struck her.

The area is a quiet residential neighbourhood near Micklefield Park, just north of Taunton Road.

The Jeep did not stop after the collision, Durham Police say, and quickly left the area. The woman was treated in a local hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police have not identified the driver. As a result, no arrests have been made or charges filed. Investigators have released images of the suspect vehicle and the woman walking.
