Home renovations coming for Whitby lottery winner

Beverly Thompson can afford to do some of those home renovations she’s been hoping to do.

The Whitby native is celebrating after winning $100,000 in Lotto’s Triple Millions main draw on August 29, 2024.

A retiree, Thompson plays the lottery regularly, enjoying games like Lotto 6/49, Ontario 49, and Lottario.

Her first big win comes in the limited-time game, Triple Millions. She scanned her ticket on the OLG App following the main draw and discovered the exciting news.

“I couldn’t believe I had won one of the top prizes and had to scan my ticket a second time to be sure,” Thompson recalled while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I first shared the good news with my husband, and he was just as shocked as I was.”

Thompson plans to put those winnings towards some home renovations.

“Make sure to pick up your tickets! You never know what’s possible,” she said.

Thompson purchased her winning ticket at the Corner Store on Brock Street South in Whitby.
