The Durham Regional Police homicide unit is investigating the death of a 94-year-old woman in a Whitby long-term care home.

Police say the woman fell to the ground following an argument with another patient in Glen Hill Terrace, an LTC at 80 Glen Hill Dr. She was taken to hospital immediately after the Jan. 17 fall and later succumbed to her injuries.

Police announced her death on Jan. 23. They have not identified the woman or described a suspect.

Investigators say they are collaborating with the Crown Attorney’s office to decide whether or not they will lay charges.

Anyone with information relevant to the case can call the police at 905-579-1520 x 5412 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Glen Hill Terrace is a non-profit LTC home licenced for 160 beds. The home was last inspected in December following a neglect allegation and was reprimanded for inadequate wound care.
