Heavy smoke rolled across downtown Oshawa yesterday afternoon from a house fire at Centre Street and Elgin Street.

The fire began around two p.m. October 4. Several police officers blocked off the intersection, while three firetrucks doused the flames.

All residents of the home, including the family dog, escaped without injury. Fire crews got the blaze under control quickly and were able to save the home.
