A man was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre after losing control of his pickup truck in a single-vehicle crash in Uxbridge last night.

Durham Regional Police responded to a collision on Uxbridge Concession Road 7, just south of Chalk Lake Road, shortly after 5 p.m.

Police say the 47-year-old man was driving a white GMC Sierra southbound when he failed to take a curve, veered into the ditch on the east side of the road, and hit some trees.

The driver was extracted by Uxbridge Fire Services and airlifted by Air Ornge to a trauma centre, where the severity of his injuries and current condition is unknown.

Officials suspect that alcohol may have played a role in the crash, though this has not yet been confirmed.

The road was closed for several hours as the Collision Investigation Unit members examined the scene.

The cause of the collision is still being determined.
