A Pickering man faces several charges after allegedly committing “indecent acts” in a Pickering pharmacy.
The suspect, Chevaun Hakim Jones, 29, went to the Rexall at 1822 Whites Road shortly before 7 p.m. on July 25, Durham Police say. They believe Jones “exposed his genitals and masturbated” behind one employee’s back.
Police allege he then approached another woman and tried to take a picture up her dress on his cellphone.
Jones was arrested nearly two weeks later on Aug. 6. He’s charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of secretly recording a person for a sexual purpose, and committing an indecent act in a public place. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
The charges have not been proven in court. Investigators believe there may be further victims who haven’t come forward.
There is no statute of limitation on sexual assault so victims can come forward even years or decades after the assault. Those unable or unwilling to come forward to police can reach out to Victim Services of Durham Region, which offers many supports.
