The Durham Region International Film Festival returns October 24-26

Movie buffs can revel in the magic of some extraordinary films this fall with the return of the Durham Region International Film Festival (DRIFF) to three historic and iconic venues October 24-26.

The not-for-profit festival, back for its eighth year, promises to captivate audiences with a diverse selection of films from local talents and international filmmakers at the Centennial Building in Whitby, the St Francis Centre in Ajax and Oshawa’s Biltmore Theatre.

In addition to movie magic, film fans can also expect the usual and unusual lineup of unique festival experiences, including a local culinary showcase highlighting tastes of the community’s culinary talent; red carpet photo opportunities; educational interactive workshops that allow guests to experience the world of film production; and panels featuring experts plucked straight from the film industry.

DRIFF is welcoming a new Director of Programming this year in Jessica Smith, an arts professional with more than twenty years of international film and events programming experience. Smith has experience at many top festivals and organizations including TIFF, the Tribeca film festival, BAMcinématek, the BFI London Festival, Sky Cinema, Sky Arts, and the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.

Tickets remain affordable for movie lovers at $15 for Day 1 and $20 for days 2 and 3. Full festival passes at $40 per person will be available for a limited time in the fall.
