A Pickering man is excited for his new “head start” after he won $100,000 on a scratcher ticket he bought on a lark.

Patrick Bakalarz, 25, is a construction worker. While headed out to lunch with a buddy, he stopped at the Circle K convenience store on Kingston Rd. in Pickering. He had a bit of spare change burning a hole in his pocket and decided to get a Plinko scratch ticket.

“I scratched one and won $10, so I bought two more. I won $5 on the first, then $100,000 on the second! I had to double-check the number of zeroes. It was nuts,” Bakalarz told the OLG. When he told his parents and his girlfriend, he said, “They were all super excited for me.”

Bakalarz is going to use the money to go on a vacation, manage his finances and invest in real estate. “I’ll enjoy the added comfort that comes with this win,” he said, “It’s nice to get a head start in life.”
