Oshawa lotto win

Two people from Oshawa are celebrating big lottery wins, though one is a lot bigger than the other.

First, a 15-year lottery player, Sharon Lindell won $50,000 on a Merry Millions ticket.  She picked up the ticket at The Pantry on Park Road in Oshawa ahead of the Jan 9 draw.

“I checked my ticket the next morning on the OLG app and saw the Big Winner screen and said, ‘What? $50,000, that’s nice,” she told the OLG, “I called my family to share the news. They were all so excited. I’m sure they could hear me smiling on the phone.”

“This is unbelievable and an exciting experience,” she continued. “I’m filled with lots of anticipation. This win will be saved for my future. I’ve always wanted to travel Scotland and would love to have a bucket list adventure.”

The next winner, Darrel Bynoe, 60, won the Lottario jackpot of nearly $1.5 million. He bought his ticket ahead of the March. 2 draw at the Ritson Road Jug City.

“I usually play my own numbers and I buy tickets on Thursday or Friday for the weekend draw. I checked my ticket on OLG.ca at 1:30 in the morning after watching a hockey game and it felt really good to see I won. I was jumping around the house,” he told the OLG.

“I told my sister the next morning and all she said was, ‘Good for you!'” he smiled. “It’s so great to have financial freedom.”
