Just nine schools affected by bus cancellations Thursday in Port Perry, Whitby and Clarington

Bus operators seem to be finally getting a handle on the long-running school bus driver problem that has plagued the companies – as well as parents, school and students – all year with just 14 routes cancelled today (May 18) across the region in only three communities.

There are route cancellations at Port Perry High School and RH Cornish and SA Cawker elementary schools in Scugog; CE Broughton Public School and Henry Street High School in Whitby; and St. Stephen and Clarington Central high schools and Clarington Central Intermediate and Holy Family elementary schools in Clarington.
