Knifepoint carjacking in Bowmanville leads to charges for two

Two men have been charged after a knifepoint carjacking in Bowmanville last winter.

The victim reported he was robbed of his car to Durham Regional Police on Feb. 23. They responded by dispatching their Robbery Unit to investigate the scene near Bowmanville Ave. and Aspen Springs Dr. While the victim alleged he was threatened he was not physically hurt.

The investigation, which police called “extensive,” took months but on Apr. 21 announced the arrest of two men in connection to the crime. During one of the arrests, police claim they found a loaded gun on the suspect.

Taylor Eibbert, 34 of no fixed address is facing 18 charges including robbery with an offensive weapon, possession of weapons dangerous, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance, four counts of failing to comply with weapons prohibition, and four counts of breach of probation.

Mart Puhm, 38 of Whitby, is charged with robbery.

Both men will remain in custody at least until a bail hearing.
