If you’re looking for something family-friendly that the kids will enjoy this week, look no further than the Canadian Automotive Museum in downtown Oshawa, home of the seven-time Piston Cup champion Lightning McQueen.
Join the star of the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise, Lightning McQueen, for March Break activities at the museum. Families can take their photo with Lightning before touring the museum’s cool car collection. Kids will win a prize for completing the CAM scavenger hunt after exploring the galleries.
Kids of all ages can complete activities that introduce basic concepts of car design and geometry. Younger kids can think about how objects can be broken into smaller shapes with our cut-out car activity, while older kids and teens can explore spatial relationships between shapes with tangram puzzles.
March Break activities will be available from Tuesday through Sunday, March 19, 2022 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Fun Lightning McQueen fact: the character is not named after actor and race driver Steve McQueen, but after Pixar animator Glenn McQueen, a graduate of Sheridan College in Oakville who became Pixar’s supervisor of digital animation. McQueen, who died in 2002 after contracting melanoma, worked on Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2 and Monster’s Inc.
