A young man and two teenage girls are in custody after a loaded gun, cocaine and opioids were discovered during a traffic stop in Whitby early Saturday morning.
Durham Police say police stopped a “suspicious” vehicle just before one a.m. on June 29 near Whitby’s four corners at Dundas and Brock streets.
While speaking to the driver, the officer detected an overwhelming odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle, prompting a search. Drugs and the loaded handgun were found.
All parties were taken into custody without incident.
Parker Jason Amisson, a 21-year-old Oshawa resident, is charged with five weapons offences and five drug trafficking offenses, including two counts each of trafficking in cocaine and opioids.
The teenage girls – a 14-year-old from Oshawa and a 14-year-old from Pickering – were hit with the same ten charges, as well as obstruction and two counts of breach of probation.
All parties were held for a bail hearing.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Thomas of Central West Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2446.
