The Region of Durham is shutting down a major connection between Oshawa and Clarington for the remainder of the season to accommodate construction of a new sewer.

Two major roads will close on August 8;

  • Townline Rd N from Whitelaw Ave to Woodstream Ave, an approximately 2 km stretch of road running North-South between the two municipalities, and
  • Taunton Rd between Benson St and Langmaid Rd, a nearly 2 km East-West stretch of road connecting Oshawa to Hampton.

These roads will be closed until summer’s end between August 8 and September 23. Regional construction crews will be working in the area to install new sanitary sewers, storm sewers, a local watermain and rebuild the road when that’s done.

There will be signed detour routes for local traffic. Businesses in the area will remain open throughout the project.

“The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews,” the Region said.
