Man acted ‘erratically and dangerously’ on live road in Oshawa, police claim

Durham Police allege a man was acting “erratically and dangerously” in the middle of a live road in Oshawa.

Callers reported a man in the middle of the road near Ritson Road South and Valley Drive down by Lakeview Park.

Officers say the man was out in the street behaving “erratically and dangerously.” Once first responders arrived they talked the man down. He eventually agreed to go to a local hospital for medical care.

Police searched the man “for the safety of the paramedics and officers involved.” Officers claim they discovered a loaded handgun with a tampered serial number.

Anthony Curtis, 31 of Oshawa, is charged with;

  • possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm,
  • possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence,
  • possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with
  • possession contrary to order,
  • failure to comply with an undertaking, and
  • failure to comply with probation order.

He remains in custody until a bail hearing,
