A 47-year-old man was airlifted to hospital after the pickup truck he was driving lost control and crashed into trees on a road in Uxbridge late Friday afternoon.
Durham Regional Police said in a news release issued Saturday morning the single-vehicle crash, in which alcohol may have been a factor, took place just before 5:30 p.m. on Uxbridge Concession Road 7, south of Chalk Lake Road.
According to police, a white GMC Sierra pickup was travelling southbound when it “lost control, failed to negotiate the curve, entered the east ditch and struck some trees.”
Uxbridge firefighters pulled the man from the vehicle and he was rushed to a Toronto area trauma centre by air ambulance.
The road remained closed for several hours while police investigated.
“Alcohol may have been a factor in this collision,” police said.
Police are seeking witnesses as they continue to investigate.
