Moises Grisales sex assault suspect

A woman was sexually assaulted in her Bowmanville home leading to the arrest of a suspect nearly a month later.

The victim encountered a man on the dating app Tinder in early October. This man pretended to connect her to a second man on the image-sharing app Snapchat, Durham Police said.

After the pair became acquainted on Snapchat, the man went to the woman’s home near Jollow Drive and Concession Road 3 on Oct. 12. The suburban neighbourhood sits in the northeast corner of town.

Investigators allege the man sexually assaulted the woman while in her home. He left the area on foot before police officers arrived. Police later identified a suspect as Moises Grisales, 21 from Whitchurch-Stouffville.

They believe Grisales used Tinder under the username “Alex” and Snapchat under the username “Moses” to talk to the victim. Grisales was arrested on Nov. 12 on charges of sexual assault and forcible confinement. He’s since been released from custody with conditions.

Police “have concerns there may be other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward to investigators,” they wrote. Anyone with information can call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1642 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
