Oshawa carjacking suspected captured

Police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection to a carjacking in Oshawa on Tuesday.

According to Durham PoliceRPS, a woman was getting into her car in the Simcoe Street and Olive Avenue area when she was assaulted by a man who then sped off in her car, a white Ford Escape.

The man then got into an minor accident on Montrave Street from which he fled. Police found the stoln car on King Street West with damage to its front end and leaking fluids. The suspect was found in the immediate area.

Nelson Kingston, 21, of no-fixed-address, is charged with robbery, possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to remain, leave an accident scene without giving his name or offering assistance, failure to comply and driving without a licence.

He will be held in police custody until a bail hearing. Anyone with information can call Cst. Maves at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 3903.
