Man charged after stabbing over domestic dispute at a house in Oshawa

A man is in custody after stabbing another man during an altercation in Oshawa last week.

On Thursday (August 8), Durham Regional Police responded to reports of an armed person at a house near Taylor Ave and Harmony Road South around 1:40 p.m.

It’s alleged that two men were involved in a verbal dispute which escalated, resulting in one of them being stabbed.

Police say that upon arrival, officers administered life-saving measures to the victim, who was then taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Subsequently, the suspect was found close by and taken into custody without incident.

Durham police confirm that the individuals involved were in a domestic relationship and there are no concerns for public safety.

A 34-year-old man from Oshawa has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and uttering threats.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators have not released the accused’s name or a photo and no information about the victim has been made public at this time.
