A man has been charged in connection to historical sexual assaults which allegedly took place when the man lived in Bowmanville nearly ten years ago.

The OPP based in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, a rural municipality southeast of Ottawa, received a report from the victim and launched an investigation in May 2023.

The victim alleged they were sexually assaulted in both Stormont and Bowmanville between 2013 and 2015 when they were a minor. The suspect and the victim knew each other during this period.

On Feb. 13, the OPP arrested a 59-year-old man from Lansdowne. The man faces 12 charges including two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, luring a minor, extortion and other offences.

“The name of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim,” police said.
