Man dies after vehicle crashes into a ditch in Port Perry

A man died in a single-vehicle crash into a ditch in Port Perry on the weekend.

A vehicle pulling an open trailer went into a ditch on Marsh Hill Road, north of Scugog Line 9, in Port Perry just before noon on Sunday (Aug. 20), Durham Regional Police Service said in a press release.

Emergency crews rushed to the crash but sadly, an 83-year-old man from Scugog was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

Roads were closed in the area for several hours while police investigated.
