Man faces harassment charge after woman followed around Ajax park

An Ajax man has been charged for allegedly following a woman around an Ajax park, partially while driving impaired.

The victim reported a man had been following her around Lewin Cr. and Lake Dr. near the lakeshore around 4 p.m. on July 16. She first noticed the man following her through Rotary Park and hiding in the bushes.

The woman bolted away once she noticed the man and sought help from a neighbouring house. As she ran, the man allegedly got in his car and followed behind her. Nearby witnesses saw this and ran over to help the woman. They stayed with her while she called Durham Regional Police and waited for them.

On arrival, the officers searched the area and found a suspect in his car. They arrested Ram Jassal, 64, on three charges including criminal harassment and impaired driving. He’s since been released with conditions.
