Man found dead near busy intersection in Whitby

The body of an unidentified man was found by police near a busy intersection in Whitby this morning.

Durham Regional Police posted to social media shortly before 11 a.m. reporting a heightened police presence near Des Newman Boulevard and Dundas Street West, where the body of a man was discovered.

Officials have not released details on the victim’s identity including name, age or place of residence.

Additionally police say there is no threat to public safety and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Police have not indicated if roads in the area are closed and whether drivers should expect traffic delays or if alternate routes are recommended.
