The man who was found dead on a Clarington walking trail last week has been identified.
He was found alone and in medical distress while walking the Samuel Wilmot Nature Trail in Newcastle on June 17. The two-kilometre trail runs through the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area near Cobbledick Road and Fairway Drive.
When discovered he did not present any vital signs. The man was alone when first responders arrived and was not carrying any identification. Durham Police described him as between 70 to 80 years old.
He was rushed to hospital but later declared dead. Investigators confirmed his death was not suspicious and there was no foul play involved.
However, the man remained unidentified for some time. On June 25, Durham Police announced they had identified the man, though they did not make his identity public.
