Man found drunk in car with gun on lap in Pickering, police claim

Durham Police allege officers found a man passed out drunk at a Pickering intersection with a gun in his lap.
According to police, 911 operators fielded a well-being check call at 5 a.m. on May 26. The caller indicated a car had stopped at the intersection of Highway 401 and Whites Road and sat there through several traffic light changes.
When officers arrived they say they found a man passed out behind the wheel with a gun in his lap.
After the officers took the gun, they found the man exhibited signs of drunkenness. They arrested him without any further incident.
Jahi Samuel, 42 of Pickering is charged with several offences including;
- drunk driving,
- driving with a blood alcohol content of 80 milligrams,
- possession of a loaded firearm,
- possess of a firearm while knowingly not holding a licence,
- possess of a restricted or prohibited device,
- occupying a car with a firearm, and
- possession contrary to a court order.
He was held pending a bail hearing.
