Man killed in overnight Oshawa shooting

An man was killed in an overnight shooting in Oshawa on Monday in Durham Region’s first homicide of 2022.
Police announced the shooting around 11:20 pm, confirming that shots had rung out on Madison Avenue, a couple of blocks north of the Oshawa Centre.

On arrival first responders found a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide investigators were on route to the crime scene as of the police announcement. The area was cordoned off for some time as they investigated.
Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the victim, nor have they provided any suspect description.
This is Durham’s first murder investigation of the year, but it’s also the third in as many weeks. Mahishan Kugathasan, 19, was killed on December 23 and Franklin Owusu, 27, was killed on December 28, both in Ajax.
The last homicide in Oshawa specifically was the death of Ruth Humphries, 67, on November 2.
