Man killed in Toronto shooting idenified as Pickering resident

A Pickering man has been identified as the victim of a fatal Toronto shooting.

Gunfire erupted near Ellesmere Road and Warden Avenue in western Scarborough shortly after 10:15 p.m. on July 6, according to Toronto Police.

The victim, Sulakshan Selvasingam, 26, and an unidentified suspect were at a gas station in the area. The suspect fired several rounds into Selvasingam’s car, inflicting several bullet wounds. The suspect then fled the area.

First responders shortly thereafter and found Selvasingam alive. They attempted life-saving measures and rushed him to hospital. However, Selvasingam succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect remains at large. Police have provided no information or description of the shooter.
