Man stabbed in Ajax in life-threatening condition

A man is on the road to recovery after suffering from life-threatening injuries during a stabbing in Ajax.

On Thursday (July 11), Durham Regional Police responded to reports of an armed person shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the area of Bayly Street East and Burcher Road.

The suspect and victim were involved in an altercation which resulted in the victim being stabbed, police say.

Subsequently, the victim was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is believed to have fled the area in a red vehicle with the make, model, and license plate number currently unknown.

Officials have not confirmed if this was a targeted attack and whether the victim and suspect knew each other.

The cause of the stabbing is still under investigation.

As of today, the condition of the victim has moved to stable. Authorities have not included further details on the victim, including his name, age, and place of residence.

Investigators describe the suspect as a black man wearing a face mask. No additional physical descriptions or clothing descriptions are available, and there is no surveillance image of the wanted suspect.
