A man was stabbed in a business in Uxbridge and another is in custody.

The victim was attacked in a business near Douglas Road and Toronto Street South around 5 p.m. on May 6.

The area is home to several stores and restaurants in the centre of town. Police did not specify where the attack occurred but did say it was in one of the restaurants.

Investigators claim two men got into a physical altercation in the restaurant, one of whom fled the area. The suspect allegedly chased the victim to a different nearby business. Police didn’t say which this was either.

During the renewed altercation the victim was stabbed and suffered minor injuries. Staff intervened and detained a suspect until police arrived.

The victim was treated in a local hospital for minor injuries. The suspect was arrested and remains in custody until a bail hearing.

The Stouffeville man, 26, is charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Police have withheld his name to protect the identity of the victim. Typically this is done when the pair are somehow related.
