Man wanted after spraying unknown substance during Ajax phone robbery

An unidentified man is wanted after spraying another man with an unknown substance during a cell phone robbery in Ajax.

The victim had posted an iPhone for sale on Facebook Marketplace and agreed to meet the suspect to sell it. The pair met up in a residential neighbourhood near Sewell Cres. and Tampsett Ave.

According to Durham Regional Police, the pair met up around 8 p.m. on March 5. While the suspect was inspecting the phone, police claim he sprayed the seller with the unknown substance and ran off with it. The victim received minor injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a Black man between 25 and 30 years old. He stands about six-foot-two with a slim build. He has short curly hair. At the time of the attack, he wore a blue mask, black bomber jacket, black hoodie sweater, and black jogging pants.
