Man wanted for attempted bank fraud in Clarington

A man is wanted after an alleged attempt to open a bank account with a fake ID.

The unidentified man went to the TD Bank at 570 Longworth Ave. in Bowmanville, Durham Regional Police said. They allege the man used a fake passport to try and open an account.

Bank staff recognized the passport as a phoney and called the police. The man fled the bank when he realized.

Police describe the suspect as a West Asian man between 25 and 29 years old. He stands about five-foot-seven and has dark hair and a dark beard.
