An unidentified man is wanted after stealing $4,000 worth of Pokemon and Hockey cards from an Oshawa bookstore.

The man broke into GNU Books at 1120 Simcoe St. N. at 6:40 p.m. Aug 13, just after the store’s closing time. The store focuses mainly on used books but also offers comic books, collectibles and trading cards. The man made his way to the trading card area and stole what the store estimates to be $4,000 to $5,000 worth of Pokemon and Hockey cards.

GNU Books shared the break-in the evening of the crime and shared security footage of the thief. However, the man’s face is obscured by a mask with only his eyes and nose visible. Durham Regional Police announced a plea for information a month later.

Police describe the burglar as a white man between 25 and 35 years old who stands six feet tall with a slim build. He was wearing a grey hat, a black mask, a grey/green sweatshirt, blue pants, yellow-orange gloves, and blue sneakers with orange tips and white bottoms.

Anyone with information can call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2740, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or GNU Books at (905) 434-1463.
