Durham College, Ontario Tech University and all Ontario colleges and universities will maintain mandatory masking at school at least until the end of the winter semester.

Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore announced some reopening milestones for the province, including lifting mandatory masking requirements in most settings as of Monday, March 21.

But the Council of Ontario Universities released a statement last week declaring that in order to “minimize uncertainty and disruption” and to continue to support the students, staff, faculty and university communities, “Ontario’s universities will maintain their COVID-19 vaccination and masking policies until at least the end of the current term.”

COVID-19 pre-entry screening requirements and illness reporting at Durham College’s main campus in Oshawa and the Skills campus in Whitby, as well as at Ontario Tech’s buildings in Oshawa will also continue until that time.
