Massage therapist charged for allegedly recording client undressing in Pickering

A mobile massage therapist has been charged with voyeurism after Durham Police allege he secretly recorded a female client getting undressed at her residence.

Police responded to a sexual assault call at a home near Rougemount Drive and Altona Road in Pickering on the evening of January 10.  The victim contacted Akwaaba Mobile Massage to have a massage therapist visit her home. While undressing before the massage she found the suspect’s phone propped up and recording her.

The victim confronted the suspect who left the home before police arrived. She did not sustain any physical injuries.

After an investigation the suspect, 32-year-old Godwin Asante of Markham, was taken into custody without incident on January 25. Police have concerns that there may be more victims and have released a photo of Asante which can be viewed here or at www.drps.ca

Asante was charged with voyeurism and released on an undertaking.
