A military vehicle snarled traffic on Highway 401 after rolling over on its side.

The vehicle rolled by the Harmony Road on-ramp at around 2:30 p.m. on March 20.

No one was injured in the rollover, but the OPP had to shut down the two left lanes on the eastbound side for cleanup.

The OPP expected the lanes to reopen shortly.

The vehicle appears to be a Textron Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle. The Canadian Armed Forces have used the TAPVs as their primary reconnaissance vehicle since 2016. It is essentially a big armoured car.

The CAF operates a fleet of 500 TAPVs spread across seven bases. Though they haven’t been used in combat, they have been used in Operation LENTUS to help flooded communities in Quebec.
