A growing U.S.-based restaurant chain that specializes in mini pancakes has opened its first Canadian location in Oshawa.

Recently, Panda Pancakes, a family-owned company founded in 2021 to “bring a little sweetness” to people’s lives at the height of the pandemic, announced that it officially opened its doors in Oshawa Centre.

The restaurant, which serves small pancakes covered with a range of sweet toppings, celebrated the grand opening of its main-level kiosk with city officials late last month.

As far as food goes, the pancakes can be topped with everything from strawberries or Nutella to dulce de leche sauce.

Diners can also choose their toppings to create their own unique dish.

The brand also sells waffle and pancake mix for customers who want to try their hand at re-creating the breakfast staple at home.

On Instagram, the operators of the new location say they start the day by sourcing fresh fruits and real butter to prepare a test batch that will be given to shoppers interested in sampling the food for free.

“Trust me, the smell is what the customers love about these mini pancakes and once they have a sample there’s no going back. Turning samples into sales is the key,” the post reads.
