Mississauga man wanted for alleged purchase of generators with stolen credit card information

A Mississauga man is wanted on numerous fraud charges after allegedly using stolen credit card information to buy generators at several stores from Pickering to Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police allege Samir Maki, 33, stole credit card data and used it to buy several Honda generators from stores across the region between Jan. 1 and Feb. 20.

Investigators have not specified where he got the credit card information or what he did with the generators. Additionally, they did not share how much money Maki allegedly defrauded or how many stores he went to.

Maki is wanted on 19 fraud-related charges including;

  • fraud over $5,000
  • five counts of fraud under $5,000
  • six counts of unauthorized use of a credit card
  • four counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • attempted fraud under $5,000, and
  • unauthorized possession of credit card information
