More details of shooting in Whitby emerge

Durham Regional Police have revealed more details about the man shot in Whitby last night.
They were called to the area around Des Newman Blvd. and Westfield Dr. on around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 after multiple witnesses reported hearing gunshots. When officers arrived, they couldn’t find any victims. However, the spoke with several witnesses and found shell casings on the ground.
Later, a man turned up at a local hospital suffering a gunshot wound. The victim said he was in a park near Des Newman Blvd. and Westfield Dr. when he was shot. The victim was treated at the hospital and is now in stable condition. The closest park to the area is Des Newman Whitbee Park.
Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no more threat to the public.
