The 500 or so bears collected in the Oshawa Generals’ Teddy Bear Toss was reported last week but the annual charity event did more than provide teddy bears for children.

More than a thousand pounds of food – 1,037, to be exact – as well as $310 to support its distribution was also collected. The $2,100 worth of food will be distributed to Feed The Need Durham.

The Teddy Bear Toss was a drive-thru event for the second year in a row because of pandemic restrictions.
