UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies in a crash east of Oshawa

A single-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Emergency crews responded to reports of the crash on Highway 401 westbound to the Highway 418 northbound ramp in Clarington just before 4 p.m. on Thursday, OPP said.
A motorcycle left the roadway and went into a ditch, police said.
Police said the rider, an 82-year-old man from Mississauga, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Highway 418 northbound ramp is closed with an unknown reopening time.
Update: The ramp reopened around 8 p.m.
An OPP reconstruction team is investigating.
